Benefits of Plastic Tooling Manufacturing

Plastic tooling manufacturing comes with countless benefits, there are endless reasons why you may be considering investing in our tooling manufacturing – here are a few.

High Repeatability

Once the tool mould is made, identical products can be made over and over. Mould tools also have a very long mould tool life!

Fast Turnaround Times

Many variables need to be taken into account when discussing turnaround time, such as the volume of work in the tool room and the complexity of the tool. However, in general, the turnaround time is fairly fast. In some cases, we have the contract reviewed and moulded trial 1 sample parts within 10 working days, other cases have been 10+ weeks.

Extremely Precise

Plastic tooling manufacturing is a great way to get high-quality products at incredible precision.

The Plastic Tooling Process

There are many steps that go into our tooling manufacturing to provide you with the best possible end result.

Step 1

Once we have initiated the project and submitted our project plan. We will review the CAD models provided by the customer. This is the most important part of tool design and is known as design for Manufacture (DFM).

Step 2

Sometimes, we may need to adjust or modify the parts to ensure perfect moulding. This information will be presented as a presentation format with the associated part drawings.

Step 3

Once that has been approved, we are able to move through the next gateway — buying in billet.

Step 4

The tool design can fully commence now the part design is finalised. Most tooling is machined on one of our Hurco CAD CAM tooling centres.

Step 5

Now, the intricate work of our extremely talented tool makers can begin, they add the finishing details on the bend so that the finest details can be met. Once we have completed the tool manufacture, the tool will be moved to our production facility where we can start the trial mouldings.
